The (almost) worldwide quarantine has been tough for performers. I am taking part in a 25 day challenge. That is to sing a song every day and post it. Every day is a new theme.
After watching (and subscribing if you want)… I CHALLENGE YOU to the 25 day challenge. Feel free to share these with me if you wish.
I had the wonderful experience of playing Captain Von Trapp last year. While not musically difficult, he was probably one of the toughest characters I’ve ever had to play.
“Sound of Music, it will be fun!” they say! Yes, for the parts of Maria and the children, but the Captain navigates mostly through the scenes where he is still traumatised by the loss of the love of his life. There is some happiness where he gets to woo Maria and wed her, quickly followed by the Anschluss, in which an attempt is made to recruit him into the German navy. These scenes were heart breaking, every night. It did, however, fill me with absolute joy every night to sing “I go to the hills” to my stage children. It made me cry with joy every night.
Do you have any touching musical or opera stories to tell? Please leave them below!
Happy singing!
